Onondaga County upgrades voting results technology

Local News

After the polls close next Tuesday, Onondaga County voters can expect a new and improved way to see results for their neighborhood.

The Board of Elections has new software for its website, where online races will be listed with results for each election district.

“People want instant results and they want instant data, and this is another way to show the voters of Onondaga County how their votes matter,” said Dustin Czarny, the Onondaga County Elections Commissioner.

After the polls close, data cards from voting machines are driven to the Board of Elections, before it’s securely posted online.

Results will be available on Election night when the polls close at 9 p.m.

Election night results often show the winner, but the numbers are unofficial. Absentee votes need to be counted and the board of elections has to certify the voting machine data after Election Day.
