The Taft Bay Park Beach in the Town of Constantia has been closed for swimming due to high levels of E. coli bacteria found in the water, according to the Oswego County Health Department.

Most varieties of E. coli are harmless or can cause brief diarrhea. Anyone concerned about gastrointestinal symptoms should contact their health care provider.

Swimming areas close when bacterial levels exceed acceptable standards.

The Health Department will continue to test until the samples show acceptable levels. The beach will re-open when these levels are achieved.
