Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council proposes new guidelines to keep water clean

Local News

AUBURN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — After 18 months of work-shopping different ways to improve the quality Owasco Lake, the Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council has launched a lengthy list of proposed regulations for neighbors who go to the lake and property owners to follow.

“We want to keep sediment and pollution out of the lake. We want to keep the roadside ditches vegetated and running clear water,” said Steve Lynch, Planning & Economic Development for Cayuga County.

Public input will be considered before the final set of rules and regulations are put together. It will then be up to local municipalities to take these rules and make them law.
