CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department has arrested an Owasco man on weapons charges after a three-month-long investigation.

Anthony Ranauro, 32, was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.

In an investigation that started earlier this year by the Office of Immigration and Customs, Ranauro was being investigated after placing an order to an international company for fake identification documents.

Another report was received that Ranauro was also ordering weapon parts through the mail.

The Sheriff’s Department then interviewed Ranauro and seized multiple illegal handguns and rifles from his home. Many of those lacked serial numbers.

Ranaruo faces multiple weapons charges.

He was sent to Cayuga County Jail.

Ranauro was an unarmed security guard for a private company.
