NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) Burn Kickboxing was packing a punch on Saturday. The gym in North Syracuse filled with people throwing hooks and jabs to support kids with critical illnesses.
The gym held a four-hour Burn-A-Thon to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. You could come and go how you pleased, but some burners boxed for the entire four hours!
“We like to push people and challenge people and show them what they really can do what they’re capable of,” said Brian Bellucci, studio manager.
All of that sweat and intensity was meant to inspire kickboxers to push themselves to their limits, just like kids with cancer and other critical illnesses push themselves to keep fighting each and every day.
“Here we’re all about bettering people and getting a better quality of life and I feel like Make-A-Wish is the same way,” said Bellucci. “We’re always looking to help people, help the community, and just be the best we can.”
The Burn-A-Thon raised close to $4,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. A local business also asked the gym to match up to $500.
