In a NewsChannel 9 experiment, four parents were asked to sit down and take the 6th grade Common Core math and English exams.
Common Core is a controversial plan to raise standards for American students, to better compete in global society. It comes with rigorous testing for grades 3-8 in Math and English Language Arts.
It’s one of the most hotly contested political debates in education, both on the New York State and national level.
Four parents from different backgrounds and perspectives took sample test questions in a 6th grade classroom at Roxboro Road Middle School.
