(WSYR-TV) — Peter Rauch, the former Onondaga County DA Investigator who admitted to driving drunk and running over 18-year-old Seth Collier, was recently denied parole.
Seth’s mother, Lisa Purvis, tells NewsChannel 9 that she was read a letter from Rauch over the phone this week through the Office of Victim Assistance.

To The Collier Family,
I am writing to express the sincere remorse and sorrow I have for the tragic event that happened to your family with the loss of Seth. I wish I could find a more powerful expression of just simply saying I am sorry. I think about and pray every day for Seth’s soul and his family and friends that have to deal with the loss of a son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend.
I have taken all responsibility for the events that occurred that night. I know that the media made me out to be a monster and a selfish person but that could not be further from the truth. I live with guilt every day of my life and my actions on that night. I am truly sorry for my actions – for the way they have affected your family.
I can only pray that one day you will be able to find peace in your heart and forgive me for this event. When I am one day released I will make a positive impact on the community in honor of Seth to teach people how quickly bad decisions can change people’s lives forever.
I truly believe in the power of prayer and I will continue to pray daily for your family and Seth.
May God bless you.
