OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — An Oswego man is in critical condition after a shooting at “The Sting” in Oswego this past weekend.

Oswego Police were sent to “The Sting” on 49 W Bridge St in Oswego for the shooting on Saturday, May 27, at around 12:20 a.m.

Once officers arrived they found 31-year-old Mikal A. Brightwell in the parking lot who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers and members of the Oswego Fire Department and Menter’s Ambulance began to render first aid and transported Brightwell to Upstate hospital.

Brightwell was treated for a single gunshot wound and according to the Oswego Police department, he’s in critical condition from his injury.

According to investigators with the Oswego police department, they determined the shooting stemmed from a verbal dispute outside of The Sting between Mr. Brightwell and another male.

“As the argument escalated, the other male fired a single shot that struck Mr. Brightwell. The other male immediately fled the scene in a vehicle,” said Police.

The investigation is ongoing and The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police are assisting the Oswego Police Department with the investigation. Information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
