An Auburn police officer was injured while taking a 16-year-old boy into custody.
According to investigators, it happened Monday night at 10:30 in the area of Osborne Street.
Police say Officer Scott Deyo, a four year member of the department, was on patrol when he saw the teen in the roadway blocking traffic.
When Officer Deyo told the teen to move, the boy became aggressive and lunged at Deyo, grabbing him around his neck.
While attempting to arrest the teen, Officer Deyo sustained a fracture to his elbow and was cut on both his knees and elbows.
The 16-year-old, who is a resident of Cayuga Centers, was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and several other charges.
