Port Byron students allowed to take Chromebooks home

Local News

For the first time, Port Byron students in seventh through twelfth grades all have their own Chromebook that the district is allowing them to take home.

The decision was made after a successful trial run with Ipads distributed to third through sixth graders.

“It’s about bringing technology into their day to day instructions and extend their learning to virtually anywhere,” explained Wen Wei Hsu, the district technology director.

Several districts, including Port Byron, already had Chromebooks in schools available during the day but this is one of the first instances across Central New York where students are being permitted to take them home.
