Quantum research center could come to Central New York

Local News

Sen. Chuck Schumer was in Rome on Monday to discuss a potential new national research center that could be located right in Central New York.

Right now, there’s a global race to see who will advance the fastest when it comes to quantum technology.

Schumer says this rising technology will improve everything from medicine to border protection.

SUNY and Rome labs may become one of the new national centers for quantum research after a bipartisan agreement to sign quantum legislation into law this past December.

It’s unclear just how many national centers for quantum research there will be, but Sen. Schumer thinks it will be somewhere between five and 10.
