ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Hitting those railroad tracks going full speed can give you a crick in the neck but do even more damage on your car.
The Your Stories team did some digging and learned the roads that cross railroad tracks are the responsibility of the railroads.
Among the crossings we heard the most complaints about is the one over the tracks on Farrell Road in Geddes.
We also heard about the crossing on Manlius Center Road in DeWitt.
CSX owns the tracks and is telling NewsChannel 9 “Our maintenance crews are now coordinating with Onondaga County to determine the scope of any further work that might be needed and to schedule that work with minimal impact to roadway traffic.”
The railroad claims it has already made some repairs to the Hartwell Avenue crossing in East Syracuse.
The City of Syracuse, after hearing from us, did fill in some holes near the tracks that cross 7th North Street by the Crouse-Hinds plant.
Any other work there is up to CSX.
