• Snow showers mixing with rain showers today.
• Precipitation steadiest this morning.
• Drier at the end of the weekend.
• Best chance of sunshine Monday.
• Rising temperatures along with rain mid-week.
A disturbance tracking east across New York today will cause our weather to be unsettled for the start of the weekend with rain and snow showers in higher elevations. Accumulations of an inch or less are expected over the hilltops. As this disturbance passes to our east this afternoon, our precipitation will become more scattered. The jacket, boots and umbrella will be good things to keep handy at least for the first half of the day. Most everyone will likely see a drier late afternoon and evening.
High pressure will build in from the west for tomorrow and Monday. Initially, it may be tough to break up the clouds over us tomorrow. There may be some flakes of snow in the air tomorrow morning as temperatures will be near the freezing point. We are hopeful by Monday that enough dry air moves in to allow for some breaks of sunshine.
Temperatures are forecast to moderate a bit for the middle of next week as a strengthening storm tracks north into the Great Lakes. This storm will bring central New York a higher chance of showers for the midweek. With increasing southerly winds we could make a run at 50 by next Wednesday.
