It took crews about 40 minutes to knock down a fire at a home in the town of Oswego.
They were called around 11 a.m. Saturday and found flames shooting from a window of the house on County Route 7.
Members were already at the station, preparing for a weekend barbeque, so they say it was a quick response.
Multiple hoses were needed to get the fire under control.
No injuries were reported and the family of six is getting help from the American Red Cross.
The charity’s volunteers may offer emotional support as well as vouchers for temporary housing, food and clothing, if needed.
