Revisiting neck guards for hockey players after tragic incident

Local News

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) — The push is on to protect hockey players after the tragic death of a Connecticut teenager.

Some of the player’s teammates are demanding change and Central New York hockey parents are listening.

USA Hockey has researched and discussed mandating neck guards but has yet to find one that would eliminate the risk of neck lacerations.

It’s likely to come up at their annual conference Thursday.
