Peterson’s Exotic Pets in Rome has re-opened near the location where the original store burned down several days ago.

Hundreds of pets were killed in the blaze at 305 N. James Street in Rome, which broke out at 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 28.

An early investigation indicates the fire originated in the pet shop.

Peterson’s is now operating with minimal supplies at 315 N. James Street, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year would have been the 50th anniversary of the pet shop.
