(WSYR-TV) — The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public an individual is calling locals claiming to be a member of the department.
This individual is then asking people to go to the store to make payments by voucher or buy gift cards for a warrant or fine.
Deputies and police may call you by phone for normal police matters but would never ask that sort of thing.
Do not provide your credit card information to anyone over the phone.
If you think you’re being contacted by someone impersonating an officer, you can call the office directly at 315-349-3411 to confirm.
