NEW YORK STATE (WSYR-TV) — New York Senator Charles Schumer is calling for airlines to stock life-saving medicines, like EpiPens.
Joining him is a New York City doctor who recently saved the life of a passenger experiencing a serious food allergy attack aboard a Delta flight.
“I don’t know what I would have done had the Epi not worked and I don’t know who else would have had the courage to cut into a young man’s throat,” said Dr. Mikhail Varshavski.
“The airlines should carry EpiPens and we are asking the FAA to immediately remove the exemption so that these pens. These lifesaving EpiPens can be on every airplane,” Schumer said.
Schumer says the EpiPens could be part of the standard emergency medical kits already on each U.S. flight.
