Senator Schumer co-sponsoring legislation to combat robocall scams

Local News

NEW YORK STATE (WSYR-TV) — Following last week’s middle of the night calls that flooded the cell phones of people across Central New York, Senator Charles Schumer is co-sponsoring newly-introduced legislation to combat the costly schemes.

The Traced Act would give federal agencies the authority to trace, prosecute and enforce fines against robocall scammers.

It would also establish new requirements that could filter out robocalls before they reach our phones.
There were 15 million robocalls reported during the month of April.
