SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Central New York is mourning the loss of John F.X. “Jack” Mannion. He died on Saturday.
Mannion is the husband of former Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner.
Mannion was a very well known local businessman and extremely active in local, state and national politics with the Democratic Party.
Mannion served as the Chief Executive of Officer of Unity Mutual Life Insurance for nearly two decades.
While as a Democratic Party leader, Mannion became one of the first people to endorse Mario Cuomo in his run for governor over Ed Koch in the 1980s.
Mannion was also the 1996 grand marshal of the Syracuse St. Patrick’s Parade.
Mannion was 86.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31 at 9:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt. Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 30 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 259 East Onondaga St., Syracuse, NY 13202.
