The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol consumption was involved in the deadly two-car crash in the Town of Fleming last weekend. 

On Saturday, March  3, 53-year-old Stephen Landon of Skaneateles was travelling northbound on Route 34 when he crossed the center line and hit a vehicle in the southbound lane, the Sheriff’s Office says.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Landon had alcohol in his system when he crashed. 

Travis Manwaring, who was driving the southbound car, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His three other passengers are recovering from various injuries.

Landon is still recovering at University Hospital. 

Criminal charges are pending against him. 

Law enforcement continues to investigate.
