Shots fired Sunday in DeWitt; SUV found with multiple bullet holes

DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Shots ringing out in the Town of DeWitt on Sunday evening, prompting several calls to the NewsChannel 9 newsroom from concerned viewers.

DeWitt Police were called to Clearview Road at the intersection of Orrick Road just before 8:00 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

Investigators found an SUV had been struck at least twice and found .40 caliber casings at the scene.

A 22-year-old man said he was sitting in his vehicle when a black or dark-colored new model Jeep SUV drove by. He says the vehicle then turned around just prior to the shots being fired.

No one was hurt, but police are looking for tips. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact DeWitt Police by emailing Tips@TownofDeWitt.com.
