On Dec. 21, 1988, 35 Syracuse University students were on board Pan Am Flight 103, ready to come home for the holidays from their study abroad program in London.
They never made it home.
Bombs detonated in the plane, take the craft down over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew members, as well as 11 people on the ground.
Every year, Syracuse University holds memorial ceremonies, some of large scale, and some more intimate.
On Friday, about a dozen people gathered outside Remembrance Wall on the SU campus to pay tribute to their loved ones killed 30 years ago.
Hendricks Chapel Dean Brian Konkol opened with remarks of remembrance while ‘Amazing Grace’ chimed on church bells in the background.
A long moment of silence was held, and family members left flowers at the Remembrance Wall.
NewsChannel 9’s Sistina Giordano sat down with some of the parents who lost their children in the tragedy to see how they continue to cope 30 years later.
