We’re learning more about Jorge Jimenez, the Syracuse man struck and killed by the car driven by Jim Boeheim Wednesday night.
NewsChannel 9’s Julia LeBlanc spoke with his younger son, Dairon Jimenez who, as expected, is devastated.
Dairon said his dad came to the U.S. from Cuba years ago — and he wants him to be remembered for his humor and generosity.
He said Jorge always put others before himself and according to the surviving victims, he did that up until the moment he died.
Dairon said Jorge was with three friends on their way to the casino before the accident. He said the survivors tell him his dad was trying to save one of the women he was with when he was killed.
“They talked to my mom, too. And they said the one thing he did before he died was save them. He did something before he died,” Dairon said.
Jan Maloff, of A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, said he’s the one donating his funeral services to the Jimenez family.
Maloff said the nature of this tragic accident led to him reaching out to the chief of police this morning.
