Speed warning issued for motorized boats in Wayne County

WAYNE COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — In Wayne County, boaters are being warned that they must operate at idle speed.

The Wayne County Board of Supervisors’ Chairman, Sodus Town Supervisor LeRoy, Huron Town Supervisor Crane and Wolcott Town Supervisor Chatfield have issued a state of emergency for Sodus Bay, East Bay, Port Bay and Blind Sodus Bay.

The State of Emergency states that effective Saturday, May 11 at 12:01 a.m., motorized boats must operate at idle speed only, causing no wake.
