A Lysander man has died after crashing his car into a TLC Ambulance that was responding to another call on I-81 southbound near Cortlandville.
According to State Police, a TLC Ambulance was traveling southbound as was slowing to make a U-turn near Exit 10 (Cortland/McGraw) when a vehicle in the passing lane hit the driver’s side of the ambulance before losing control and hitting a guiderail.
The ambulance had its emergency lights activated, State Police say.
The driver, identified as Norman Moore Jr., was unresponsive at the scene, and crews in the ambulance immediately came to his aid, according to State Police.
Moore was taken to the Cortland Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
