SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — State Police have arrested a Syracuse man they say threatened to kill employees of St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in a Craigslist ad.
Daniel Bradley, 38, is charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony.
On Saturday, a concerned citizen in the Syracuse area called New York State Police in North Syracuse, saying she saw a Craigslist advertisement in which an individual was threatening to kill employees of St Joseph’s Hospital in the city of Syracuse.
During the next few hours, another concerned citizen in the Utica area called the State Police in North Syracuse reporting that he had viewed the same ad.
Troopers immediately alerted St. Joseph’s security personnel about the post on social media and their investigation.
Bradley was arrested on Monday and taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center to await centralized arraignment.
State Police say the threat was not credible.
Jamie Arnold, Marketing and Communications Officer at St. Joseph’s Health has issued a statement that reads:
“On the evening of June 1, a threat towards St. Joseph’s Health employees was discovered on Craigslist and reported to authorities. The safety of our colleagues, patients and visitors is our top priority, and immediate steps were taken to bolster security and notify colleagues. St. Joseph’s security personnel partnered with a multidisciplinary law enforcement team and the legal team at Craigslist to help identify the individual who posted the ad. Law enforcement officials have since arrested and charged the perpetrator with making a terroristic threat. We are grateful to the authorities and the two individuals who reported the post. By being alert and reporting suspicious activity to local law enforcement, they took the necessary precautions to help protect others from potential harm.”
