Celebrities from across the Greater Syracuse Area were thinking pink Thursday night.
Syracuse Men’s Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim, actor Daniel Baldwin, organizer Adam Weitsman and others got together to raise money for the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY.
“It is a wonderful charity based in Central New York. So all the proceeds, the tips are going to go help people with cancer here in New York,” Weitsman said.
The charity, named after the mother of the Baldwin brothers who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990, uses different ways to donate to help find a cure.
“This is way above the call of duty to help my mom and the unique thing about this fund is that we donate in the form of grants to find a cure for cancer to Upstate,” said Daniel Baldwin. So, the money that we raise stays right here in Upstate New York.”
This is the third year of the event, but the first for Coach Boeheim.
“It is amazing in Syracuse no matter what event you go to, people support charity in Upstate New York especially in Syracuse. It is going to be a mob house in here tonight,” Boeheim said. “It is fun to do things for charity and raise money when people support it and that is what people do in Syracuse. They always have.”
According to Weitsman, around $20,000 was raised Thursday night.
