EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The building that houses the Syracuse Children’s Theatre is getting a new name and it is in honor of someone a lot of people will recognize.
The theatre’s building along West Manlius Street in East Syracuse is being dedicated as the Senator John DeFrancisco Center for the Performing Arts.
Many children have passed through its doors, including several featured on Carrie’s Extraordinary Talent.
Monday’s dedication was to honor DeFrancisco’s commitment to the arts in Central New York during his time in office.
“It’s the heart and soul of a community. People want things to do that are enjoyable and that are pleasing to them, to make their life more full,” DeFrancisco said.
Monday’s dedication comes as the theatre is marking its 20th anniversary.
