Syracuse Police arrest 2 people for early morning stabbings

Syracuse Police have made two arrests in separate stabbing incidents early Saturday morning.

Around 12:21 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 300 block of Primrose Ave for a domestic related stabbing incident. 

When police arrived to the scene, they met with a 52-year-old victim who said he had been involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend, 33-year-old, Janesha Alford. 

According to police the victim was stabbed by Alford in the left arm with a kitchen knife. 

The victim’s injuries are not life threatening. Alford was arrested and charged with assault. amd criminal possession of a weapon. 

Syracuse Police also responded to the 500 block of S. Clinton Street around 3:37 a.m. Saturday for another stabbing investigation.   

When police arrived on the scene, they met with a 54-year-old male victim who reported he had been in an altercation with 59-year-old David Cathcart. 

Police say that Cathcart came after the victim with a steak knife and stabbed him in the left forearm. 

The victim’s injuries are not life threatening. Officers arrested Cathcart and charged him with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. 

Both Alford and Cathcart were taken to Onondaga County Justice Center awaiting arraignment.
