The Syracuse Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl.

On Jan. 22 around 1:30 p.m., police responded to a shots fired call in the 900 block of Ballantyne Road.

When they arrived, they found 14-year-old Mya Killeen had been shot.

She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say Mya was shot and killed by a 13-year-old boy.

Investigators say the teen acted recklessly, but had no intent to cause her death.

The teenage boy was charged with second-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The teen’s name will not be released due to his age.
