Syracuse Police: Gunfire on North Side, man shot in back of his head

A 24-year-old man is recovering after he was shot in the back of the head early this morning on the Syracuse’s North Side.

Police say reports of shots fired came in at approximately 2:38 a.m. near the 400-block of Lemoyne Avenue, not far from Washington Square.

Upon arrival, Officers located a home and a vehicle that were damaged by gunfire.

While at the scene investigating this incident, Officers were advised that a gunshot victim had arrived at Upstate University Hospital seeking treatment.

Officers that responded to that location met with the 24-year-old male victim. Police say his injury does not appear to be life-threatening.

The investigation revealed that the victim was shot on Lemoyne Avenue and he was then driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Police say the victim was uncooperative with investigating Officers, and refused to provide any information regarding the shooting.

There is no suspect information available at this time.
