Just in time for the deadline, CenterState CEO is submitting its pitch to Amazon, which sells Central New York as the best place for its new headquarters.
Amazon has invited cities across North America to propose a home for its “HQ2,” which will come with 50,000 jobs.
CenterState CEO formed a pitch joining together the Syracuse area and Utica/Rome area, which combined meets Amazon’s requirement of 1 million residents.
The pitch includes three primary points about why Central New York would be best for Amazon’s business:
- Low Cost of Operation
- Zero Sum Energy Campus
While focusing on the strengths, the team that designed the proposal couldn’t ignore a challenge in Central New York: poverty in the City of Syracuse.
CenterState CEO Senior Vice President Andrew Fish tells NewsChannel 9 that the plan will “talk about the fact that Syracuse has the highest concentration of poverty amongst minorities and we have told Amazon, ‘you are one of the most disruptive companies in the history of the United States and the world. We are looking to you to disrupt a different kind of market, work with us to disrupt poverty.'”
If Amazon passes on Central New York, CenterState CEO feels this work won’t go to waste and that other companies will use this plan to see the benefits of locating in Central New York.
