Teens in Central New York were able to find the dress of their dreams, while giving girls in Kenya a chance to achieve their dreams.
Two seniors at Christian Brothers Academy collected hundreds of gently-used gowns, to sell at discounted prices. Proceeds went all the way to Kenya, helping their sister school, The Child Discovery Center.
“I wasn’t expecting it, and it kind of just is so great knowing that something that I started really could have this much affect on girls or give them an education,” said Marina Hatem, one of the founders of the drive. “I haven’t really wrapped my head around it yet. I feel like we really think we can’t make a difference, but I guess this was my way of making a difference and I can’t really believe it.”
