ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A health alert and another reminder to be careful around wildlife when it’s near you. The Onondaga County Health Department says three adults were exposed to a rabid fox when it attacked without being provoked. It happened in the Town of DeWitt.

The county health department is reminding Central New Yorkers that it can happen anywhere as foxes and other wild animals move through many suburban town and villages.

Rabies can be deadly, but it is also preventable. Make sure your pets are up to date on vaccinations and check in with your veterinarian for further care if they are attacked. If you are bitten, call your doctor.
