Syracuse police are investigating a shooting that happened on the city’s south side Wednesday night and injured two people.

Officers responded to South Townsend Street near Jackson Street just after 10:00 p.m. when several people called 911 saying they heard shots fired in the area.

When they arrived, officers found a 26-year-old male who was shot in the elbow and a 16-year-old who was shot in the abdomen.

Both victims are being treated in the hospital and are expected to be okay.

Detectives say the suspects in the shooting may be a group of four black men, last seen running southbound towards E. Taylor Street.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Syracuse Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222. All calls will remain confidential. Anonymous tips may also be submitted using the “SPD Tips” app.
