TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Two 16-year-old boys are facing charges after a staff member from a center for at-risk youth was attacked and had his car stolen.
Deputies were called to the George Junior Republic in the Town of Dryden around 2:45 a.m. Monday.
Police found that staff member’s vehicle crashed and abandoned on Route 38,not far from Peruville Road.
While they were checking it out, deputies saw another vehicle leaving a nearby driveway. Deputies caught up to it in the Town of Groton and arrested the teens.
One teen is facing charges including strangulation and theft, while the other is facing theft and robbery charges.
Their names are not being released due to their age.
