UPDATE: Fulton Police arrest suspect after car chase and reported gunshots

Update: Fulton Police have arrested Zachary Bentley, 21, and is being held on a New York State parole violation warrant.

Previous: Fulton Police are searching for 21-year-old Zachary R. Bentley after a shelter in place order was enacted early Wednesday morning. The order has since been lifted.

Investigators say Bentley has an active parole arrest warrant at this time.

Police say at 1:30 a.m., they attempted to stop a vehicle but the driver sped off.  After a short chase, officers say the driver pulled into a driveway on the city’s East side and ran away.  One officer reported hearing gunfire during that time.

Additional officers arrived on scene, but were unable to locate the suspect who had fled into a wooded area.

Officers did locate a handgun during their search. Onondaga County Air One, the New York State Police, the Oswego County Sheriffs Depeartment and the U.S. Border Patrol all assisted in the search for the suspect. The officer was not injured during the incident.
