UPDATE: No swimming at Sylvan Beach this year until more lifeguards are hired

Local News

SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Earlier this month, Sylvan Beach mayor Greg Horan told NewsChannel 9 that he was “99 percent sure” that there would be supervised swimming at Sylvan Beach on about a 125-foot stretch this summer.

The initial goal was to have the swimming stretch open by Memorial Day,  however, due to a lack of lifeguards, there will be no swimming on Monday.

Last season, for the first time in several years, the village closed its portion of the beach to swimming.

Until the beach can get enough lifeguards, there will be no swimming until further notice.
