In New York State, drivers are required to move over for emergency vehicles displaying flashing lights, tow trucks, sanitation workers, and construction crews or slow to a safe speed.
Last week, Trooper Craig Foglia was in his vehicle parked on the side of I-86 in Steuben County writing a ticket when a driver crashed into his vehicle sending him to the hospital.
While police are still investigating whether the other driver actually violated the Move Over law, it underlines the reason the law is so important.
In the video above, NewsChannel 9’s Beth Cefalu tests drivers to see how well they respond to the law and take the safety of emergency crews seriously.
