WATCH: Local national security expert weighs in on US attacks against Syria

Local News

Bill Smullen, the director of Syracuse University’s national security studies program, spoke with NewsChannel 9 about President Trump’s decision to launch airstrikes against Syria.

Smullen says the attacks likely won’t change anything in Syria, and that these attacks will create more conflict as more parties became involved.

“This is a war that has now existed for seven years and I would sense that now that we have UK British and French assets involved in the conflict this has broadened the extent of what we are engaged in and I think that the region at large should be concerned with the fact that there are now more players in the conflict in Syria,” Smullen said.
