A Wayne County 911 dispatcher is credited with helping deliver a baby in Palmyra.
In a news release, officials say the dispatcher, Supervisor Matthew Bixby, received a call just before 9 a.m. Monday morning from a man who said his girlfriend was in labor.
911 dispatch say Bixby walked the boyfriend through instructions on how to help the mother with the birth.
Eight minutes later, officials say the baby was born.
The mother and baby were taken by Finger Lakes Ambulance to a hospital.
“The efforts of Supervisor Bixby are a fine example of the excellent service provided every day by all of the team members in the 911 Center in Wayne County. I am proud of Matt and the entire dispatch team that we have at the Wayne County 911 Center” said Greg DeWolf, 911 Operations Manager. “We wish the family and newborn baby all the best.”
