A Wayne County man has been arrested for allegedly raping an underage victim at two locations in Onondaga County.

According to detectives, 22-year-old Thomas Sheffler raped a child under the age of 15 in the town of Salina and the city of Syracuse.

The alleged incident occurred in February.

Sheffler has been charged with two counts of second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree criminal sex act, two counts of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The victim disclosed the incident to a family member, who reported it to the Sheriff’s Office Abused Persons Unit.

Sheffler, who knew the victim, was arraigned Wednesday evening in Centralized Court and is currently being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of bail set at $15,000 cash or bond for each incident.

His mugshot has not been released due to a new New York State policy.
