SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) — Volunteers helped serve food downtown on Saturday for Syracuse’s homeless and those living in poverty. It was the third annual event organized by We Rise Above The Streets Recovery Outreach.
There was also shoe service, outreach information, and plenty of laughs despite the rain. It was free for anyone in need.
“It is going really well right now. Right now, my heart is so warm. Everybody is eating. Everybody is having a great time. Our volunteers are communicating with the people who are less fortunate and that is my goal for this cookout — our goal for this cookout. To spread love and be compassionate to people in this community. For people to connect with one another,” said director Al-Amin Muhammed.
The program is an organization dedicated to helping those who are homeless or struggling with addiction to find the help they need.
