Westhill High School shows off new improvements

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - - NewsChannel 9 got the first look at new renovations at Westhill High School.

Wednesday marked the first day of school not only for students, but the third floor of the high school as well. It has been under construction for more than a year and a half. Some of the classrooms hadn't been updated in decades.

"This has really been designed for the types of learning we think students need and not the learning we needed 50 years ago," said Westhill Superintendent Casey Barduhn.

Upgrades include new science classrooms featuring new equipment, a new roof, walls and bathroom upgrades. The boys and girls locker rooms were also renovated.

"This has been a major undertaking and this is just really phase one," Barduhn said. "We have more to follow and the work underway to see how floors one and two may look like in the future. Those talks are underway."
