State Senator John DeFrancisco is once again pushing to make the killing of a child under the age of twelve, a first degree murder offense.
The bill, deemed “Maddox’s Law,” is named after baby Maddox Lawrence who was killed by her father a little more than a year ago.
The bill, when first introduced, failed to make it through the State Assembly, but DeFrancisco says he’s optimistic this time around.
In a statement, DeFrancicso says, “I’m again pushing to get Maddox’s bill into law this year. I’m sure we will pass it again in the Senate, but we need a strong effort to get the Assembly to take the bill up and pass it.”
