GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Thursday is Agricultural Career Day, which is really the central focus of the fair. The fair was started and built on the agriculture and farming industry.
You can walk through the barns, attend milking demonstrations and learn how to milk a cow for yourself, and get the chance to hang out with other animals, like goats and llamas.
Farmers say it’s more than just a job.
“I really like the genetics part. The cows, each cows family and where they’ve come from, who they are, from their lineage. I find that interesting. So I know a lot about each cows pedigree and stuff like that,” said dairy farmer Bryce Windecker.
There is a scavenger hunt, along with interactive exhibits and a career challenge that you can take part in at the fair. In addition to Agriculture Carer Day, students from across the state show off skills in agriculture, science and robotics during all 13 days of the fair.
Thursday is Agricultural Career Day at the fair, which is really the central focus of the New York State Fair. New York State is leading the way in agriculture and Christina Nowak joined our Nicole Sommavilla to talk about how important the farming industry is.
