GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It may only be August, but Santa and his reindeer were at the Expo Center checking in on the kids, making sure they are doing the right things to get on his nice list.
“It’s a good behavior boost for the kids as well,” Jenny Wright said.
The kids got the chance to hang out with Santa, put in an early wishlist, and send it off to the North Pole!
Though Dominic and his mom come to the fair once or twice every year, when they knew Santa would be here, this became their pick day.
“I really like Christmas and today’s my birthday, so it was perfect that it fell on my birthday,” Wright said.
And while the little ones at on Santa’s lap, others dressed up like him, running through obstacle courses, wrapping presents and chugging milk for a prize. It was all part of the Santalympics.
“We’re always looking for new sort of themes every year to do. And Christmas is a great theme, people like to celebrate the holidays,” said Jessica DeCerce, Deputy Director of the New York State Fair.
Proving to fairgoers that you know what you’ll come across during these 13 days.
Wright said, “It’s just kind of cool that he’s here in the middle of August, it’s different. You always hear about Christmas in July. But not Christmas in August. So, it was fun, he really likes the reindeer.”
And it doesn’t hurt to get on Santa’s good side before the holidays come around.
