GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A special flag-raising kicked off the State Fair on Friday to honor the LBGTQ community.
It’s the fifth annual pride day at the Great New York State Fair, and this year’s celebration is extra special. It is the 50th anniversary of Stonewall. The celebration has grown over its years at the fair into the full day of entertainment and activities that you have the chance to take part in.
“Part of the Governor’s physical changes at the fair included a cultural change, which was inclusion, diversity, growing the base of the fair and making sure everyone felt welcome at the fair,” said Fair Director Troy Waffner.
Other Pride Day events include musical performances and the Pride Parade Friday afternoon.
