NYSEG, RG&E working to restore power in storm-impacted counties

NYSEG and RG&E say they are working to restore power to more than 30,000 customers after a power storm swept through much of Upstate New York on Monday.

According to the company, the hardest hit communities include Binghamton, Elmira, Hornell, Lancaster, Oneonta, Plattsburgh, and Auburn.

Broome County was among the most heavily damaged. According to the NYSEG website, more than 14,000 customers in Broome County were still without power late Tuesday morning.

The county was still under a state of emergency on Tuesday.

More than 5,000 were without power in Chenango County.
